Stratford upon Avon Golf Club has a course designed by J H Taylor, five times winner of the Open, and F G Hawtree. Sam Ryder opened the course in 1928 with Abe Mitchell (the figure on the top of the Ryder Cup) and three other Open champions playing a demonstration match.

Stratford on Avon golf Club was founded in 1894 and moved to its present location, off Tiddington Road, in 1925. Only a few years later our Captain was the inspirational Samuel Ryder, inaugurator of the famous Ryder Cup matches. Held every two years between the top professional golfers of America and of the UK and Europe, this has now become one of the most iconic team prizes in sport.
We have a challenging yet very picturesque par 72 course, respected and admired by both low and high handicap golfers alike. It has been designed to test all standards of golfers with. Our par 3 17th signature hole deserves a special mention, 203 yards over water to an island green. Particular care has been taken to maintain the natural beauty of the Welcombe Hills. The planting of more than 50,000 trees and the use of lakes have helped to create areas that are ecologically friendly. Visitors are very welcome at the Stratford Park Golf Club and can look forward to an excellent round of golf, followed by a warm, friendly atmosphere and some good food in the Clubhouse.”
